I taught for eleven years at a beautiful little, rural, title-1 school on the Big Island of Hawai'i. My students came from different backgrounds and were at such academic levels- from high flyers to struggling learners.

My AP US History students often earned some of the highest scores in the entire state. But I also taught Special-Ed, English Language Learners, and gifted and talented students - sometimes all at once! It was rough at times, but it helped me developed strategies that could both challenge students and ensure even the struggling learners could be successful. 

My teaching philosophy is that learning should be engaging and relevant for students while striking a balance between fun and rigorous. I know that if I am passionate about the subject and excited to teach it, students will enjoy learning a heck of a lot more. 👊
